"Theres no way he's getting 60-40(revenue split)" promoter Bob Arum told Lance Pugmire, the times man on the boxing beat for the Pacquiao-Hatton Match on May 2, 2009.
Bob Arum reacted when reports from Manila that quoted people behind Pacquiao saying that Manny Pacquiao should choose other boxer if the demand of a 60-40 split is not approved.
"Unless he comes to his senses and his people start acting intelligently... we'll see if we can keep it together , but the split is supposed to be 50-50. We've all agreed to it. Now, people are whisperings in Pacquiao's ear. If they keep for a 60-40, Hatton and Richard Sheafeer (Golden boy promotions chief exec officer) are pulling the plug" said promoter Bob Arum
Daily Telegraph (British newspaper) quoted Garreth Williams( Hatton's lawyer) saying that Bob Arum "had absolute authority" to discuss the terms of contract.
Also Williams said "we had all this before Christmas when they were talking about different figures and we agreed a 50-50 split with them. So having agreed that with them, we're not going to change our mind".
Freddie Roach also reacted saying " I hope I can come to an agreement but right now they are at a stand still. I hope the fight happens, and I think 50-50 is a good deal, i agree with it, because Hatton brings a lot of people from U.K., I hope I can get Manny on board".
